Endangered species

Despite the measures taken in the context of the fight against poaching, rhinoceroses are still decimated for their horns, highly prized by traffickers. In 2016, about 1,200 animals have thus been shot and dehorned.

Conservation actions

The Poaching Prevention Academy (PPA) has been created to coalesce the knowledge, skills and experiences of the different experts working in the field of prevention and fight against poaching. The objective of the PPA is to help the African organizations, the NGOs, the private associations and companies hit by poaching.

Made up of instructors trained to fight, the PPA provides each year training to about 30 persons coming from the local communities and supplies them with equipment, such as radios, medical kits, off-road vehicles and defence equipment to protect rhinoceroses.
